In May it was announced that all Suncorp Super Netball teams would be able to increase their rosters from 10 to 12 players for Rounds 10 and 11 to help alleviate the pressures brought on by the 2019 Netball World Cup, which concluded in Liverpool, England last weekend. All 12 athletes will be able to sit on the team bench and can be substituted at any time during matches in the upcoming two rounds.
An achilles injury to co-captain Layla Guscoth at the Netball World Cup has opened up a third position for a temporary replacement player to join the Adelaide Thunderbirds game day squad for Round 10. The Adelaide Thunderbirds are working to secure a permanent replacement athlete and will make an announcement in due course.
Head Coach Tania Obst said that she was excited to see three South Australians elevated to travel with the team.
“Maisie and Charlee have both come into our squad previously this season and are both capable of performing at Super Netball level, plus they’re familiar with our team environment and the rigours of travelling.”
“Chelsea has been in great form for Southern Force in the Australian Netball League and is coming off a really successful 19/U National Netball Championships. She’s also spent considerable time with the team as a training partner throughout pre-season, playing in the Suncorp #TeamGirls Cup in March and pre-season games in Sydney, so she is well acquainted with our team.”
