Shadine Van Der Merwe

Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Shadine Van Der Merwe is a world class defender.

Shadine made her debut with the Adelaide Thunderbirds partway through the 2019 season, when she joined the team as a permeant replacement player. Her strong performance was awarded with a place on the 2020 roster. She was again named in the 2021 roster along with a place on the leadership team. 
  
A valuable defensive talent, Shadine has represented South Africa at international level and joined Adelaide Thunderbirds from Surrey Storm in the UK Vitality Superleague, where she was awarded the 2019 Best and Fairest.
 
Shadine was also named Player of the Series in the 2019 SPAR Challenge International Netball Series.
