South Australian talent Georgie Horjus has extended her contract with her home club, ensuring her place at the Adelaide Thunderbirds until the end of 2026.
The diverse WA/GA has added an additional year to the two-year contract she signed at the end of 2023, joining Jamaican defensive stars Shamera Sterling-Humphrey and Latanya Wilson on long-term deals.
The trio are now locked in with the Thunderbirds for as long as possible, in line with the end of the current Collective Players Agreement.
Horjus took her game to another level in 2024, leading her side in goal assists with 230 and centre pass receives with 248.
The 22-year-old from Kangaroo Island played a vital role in the side’s back-to-back premierships, picking up four Player of the Match awards as well as five fan-voted MVPs.
In the Thunderbirds’ 2024 Grand Final victory, Horjus led her side in Nissan Net Points with 81.5 to go with 7 goals, 12 goal assists and 22 feeds as she moved between WA and GA.
On the back of her standout 2023 and 24 seasons, the young playmaker earned her first Australian Diamonds selection and in the 2024/25 squad.
Thunderbirds General Manager of High Performance Jace Bode said Horjus had proved herself as one of the best midcourters in the game.
“Georgie had an outstanding 2024 season and was a huge contributor to the team's back-to-back premiership success,” Bode said.
“Her ability to switch in between WA and GA with ease showed her versatility on court and her skill as one of the team's key playmakers.
“Georgie is a big part of our future and we are thrilled to be able to extend her time at the club to 2026.”
