The Adelaide Thunderbirds have unveiled their Heritage Dress, designed in celebration of the club’s 25th anniversary in 2022.
Brought to life by the club’s apparel partner, Valour Sport, the design pays homage to the Thunderbirds’ history, inspired by the inaugural dress from 1997.
It incorporates the original colours of silver, blue and purple and the club’s original logo, as well as sporting the names of all 103 capped players on the back.
The dress design has also inspired a merchandise range, set to be launched to the public this week.
The side will wear the dress for the first time in Round Three for Heritage Round as they host the Sunshine Coast Lightning at Netball SA Stadium on Sunday, April 10.
Thunderbirds captain Hannah Petty said it was an honour to don the original colours, paying respects to the past players, coaches and staff who came before them.
“It’s so special to return to our roots and celebrate our rich history this season and this dress is one of the many ways we’re honouring our past in 2022,” Petty said.
“It’s a proud moment for me, we’ve had so many amazing players pull on these colours and it means a lot to have their names on the back of the dress.”
The Thunderbirds kick off their 2022 campaign this Saturday as they host the Collingwood Magpies from 4:30pm ACST at Netball SA Stadium.
The Thunderbirds captain said her side was itching to get back on court, especially in front of a home crowd at 100% capacity for the first time since 2019.
“We know the Magpies will be a great test for us but we’re on our home deck and we can’t wait to play in front of our Pink Army again,” Petty said.
“It’s crazy to think we haven’t had a full house since 2019 but I cannot wait to have the Pink Army back.
“Our fans are like an eighth player out on court for us, we know oppositions hate playing at Netball SA Stadium for that reason so we’re going to use that to our advantage.”
