The Adelaide Thunderbirds would like to thank and acknowledge triple premiership player Matilda Garrett for her six incredible seasons with the club.
Garrett has advised the club that she will be accepting an offer elsewhere for the 2027 season.
The defender made the move from Melbourne to Adelaide in 2021 and has flourished in the Thunderbirds environment ever since.
As Thunderbird #101, she became a premiership player for the first time in 2023 and has been a key part of the club’s two subsequent premierships in 2024 and 2026.
She has also been a member of the side’s leadership group since 2024, including taking on the role of vice-captain this season.
In July, Garrett made her debut at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, earning a bronze medal with the Australian Diamonds.
Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said the club was extremely grateful for the impact Garrett has had on the club, on and off the court.
“Tilly first joined us back in 2021 and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with her for the past six seasons,” Bourdon said.
“Her on court development has been significant and she’s had a positive influence on the club’s culture over the years.
“We’re sad to see her go, but we respect her decision and wish her all the very best for her next chapter.”
Garrett said she was grateful for her time at the club and the many memories she has made along the way.
“I want to say a huge thank you to the Pink Army for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel so supported and loved every step along the way,” Garrett said.
“The Thunderbirds will always hold such a special place in my heart.
“A massive thank you also to the girls (both past and current players), the HP team, my sponsors, volunteers and the club for an incredible six seasons.
“I’ll always be so grateful for the memories, friendships, and experiences.”
