The Adelaide Thunderbirds have added one of netball’s biggest names to their shooting line-up for 2024, welcoming international star Romelda Aiken-George.
Aiken-George brings a wealth of experience to the side having played 214 national league games and serving as a key player in Jamaica's national team for over a decade.
She has been a dominant force on the national stage since she signed with the Queensland Firebirds in 2008, helping them win three premierships and collecting two back-to-back MVP trophies in the process.
After 14 seasons with the Firebirds, she joined the NSW Swifts in 2023 where she recorded a significant 847.5 Nissan Net Points.
The prolific goal shooter currently holds the record for most goals in a grand final with 63 and became the first player in SSN history to score 3500 goals.
Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said Aiken-George will be a great addition to the side’s attack end.
“Romelda has been one of the game's best shooting targets for over a decade and she proved that once again during the 2023 season,” Bourdon said.
“She brings significant experience to our relatively young attack end and consistently delivers high volume under the post.
“We look forward to welcoming Romelda into the Thunderbirds family and working with her in 2024.”
