The Adelaide Thunderbirds have re-signed global superstar and co-captain Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, extending her contract for another three seasons.
The three-time premiership star will enter her ninth season in pink in 2027 after becoming the club’s fifth premiership captain in its 30-year history in 2026.
Widely renowned as the world’s best goal keeper, Sterling-Humphrey possesses a long list of accolades, including three-time Club Champion for the Thunderbirds.
She is also among the only four athletes to take out the coveted Super Netball MVP award since the competition’s inception in 2017.
In her first year as co-captain in 2026, she returned from maternity leave and did not skip a beat in the best netball competition in the world.
The supermum topped the league for deflections with 107 and defensive rebounds with 37 and finished second to teammate Latanya Wilson for intercepts with 37.
Sterling-Humphrey also led the competition for blocks with an impressive 15.
Thunderbirds Head Coach Tania Obst said the club was proud to welcome back Sterling-Humphrey and her family.
“Shamera has undoubtably been among the league’s best defenders for many years now, leading the statistics across the competition,” Obst said.
“Her return to netball in 2026 was incredible, picking up where she left off before the birth of her son Xaihire last October.
“As co-captain, Shammy continued to step up in the leadership space, both on and off the court.
“We’re thrilled to continue working with her for another three seasons.”
