The Adelaide Thunderbirds have re-signed South Australian midcourter Sophie Casey for another two seasons, extending her contract until 2028.
The Adelaide local and 2025 Rookie of the Year earned her first official contract for 2026 and proved she belonged in the world’s best netball competition.
Casey featured in all 16 matches this season, having an undeniable impact in wing defence and centre.
She earned her first start in Round 13 against the NSW Swifts and went on to celebrate her first premiership with her home club.
Thunderbirds Head Coach Tania Obst said the club was excited to continue working with Casey.
“Sophie grabbed every opportunity she was given with both hands this season and we were very pleased with her growth,” Obst said.
“She is hard-working, determined and has proven her ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure moments.
“Her combinations in our defensive and midcourt units were exciting to see and we look forward to building on that in 2027 and beyond.”
