Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds are proud to announce their partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
CITB have joined the Thunderbirds family as a major partner, supporting netball in South Australia from grassroots through to the elite.
In celebration of the partnership, the Thunderbirds’ Round 12 home match against the Melbourne Vixens at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre will officially be Trade Up Round.
The round is named after CITB’s Trade Up campaign, which aims to empower young people to consider a career in construction with a focus on the benefits of an apprenticeship such as learning and earning on the job and avoiding student loans.
Netball SA CEO Bronwyn Klei said the organisation was proud to welcome the new partnership and introduction of Trade Up Round.
“We’re excited to partner with CITB and join their Trade Up Campaign,” Ms Klei said.
“As the number one sport for women and girls, we’re excited to share the Trade Up message with our audience and grow awareness for the benefits of exploring a career in construction.
“As a major partner of both Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, CITB will support netball at all levels, from grassroots participation through to our elite competition.
“To celebrate, this Saturday night’s Thunderbirds match at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre will officially be our Trade Up Round.”

CITB CEO Holly Willcox said the company was thrilled to partner with Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
"As part of our Trade Up campaign, CITB are thrilled to be able to partner with Netball SA for the 2024 season and contribute to the wellbeing of women in sport in South Australia,” Ms Willcox said.
“With women as a key focus area in the building and construction industry, we're looking forward to connecting with our future workforce and their parents who are part of the 35,000 strong netball community across the state".
Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing and Minister for Women, Katrine Hildyard MP, praised the partnership for harnessing sport’s power to drive change by bringing attention to the diversity of career opportunities available for women and girls.
“It is so important to empower women and girls to explore career opportunities across a range of industries, particularly those that have been traditionally male dominated and where we need more workers to realise our state’s incredible economic potential,” Minister Hildyard said.
“There is such power in gender equality. When women and girls are empowered to use their skills and contribute, everyone benefits.
“The building and construction industry is booming in our state, with large infrastructure investments including the $92 million redevelopment of Netball SA Stadium
“We know that women and girls have the power to do anything – and this partnership hammers home sport’s power to shift attitudes about the roles girls and women can play in sport – and everywhere – and the importance of ensuring that girls and women know that whatever career they wish to pursue, they are welcome to do so.”
The Adelaide Thunderbirds’ Trade Up Round will coincide with the club’s Round 12 home match at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Saturday, June 29.
