South Australian emerging talents Georgie Horjus and Tayla Williams have been named for the first time, alongside Chelsea Blackman who returns as a training partner for the third-consecutive year.
The trio, who have all progressed through the Netball SA pathway, were also named in the squad of 24 selected in preparation for the Netball World Youth Cup in June of 2021.
International recruit Beth Cobden, who ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Round Three of 2019, completes the group of four.
Head coach Tania Obst said all four athletes added diversity and depth to the side and were a testament to the talent on offer in SA.
“Georgie and Tayla have progressed from pathway athletes to now training partners,” Obst said.
“They have had 12 months working in our Tbirds environment and have shown progression in their technical and tactical development.
“Both possess a natural feel for the game, which will help prepare them for success at the next level.
“Chelsea Blackman’s improvement across all facets of the program has been pleasing to see.
“She had valuable time on court in 2019 in the Team Girls Cup and experienced the SSN environment post World Cup. We are excited to see her further develop within this competition.”
As for Cobden, Obst said the former English Rose added invaluable experience to the group.
“Our program is equally excited to have a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist within our training partner environment,” Obst said.
“Beth is recovering well with her rehab and will be looking to be back on court during the SSN and ANL seasons.”
The Adelaide Thunderbirds’ 2020 season kicks off on Sunday, May 3 as the side host the Giants from 2.30pm at Priceline Stadium.
