Shamera Sterling has capped off an impressive 2020 performance with a selection in the Nissan Net Points Team of the Year in goal keeper.
The Jamaican star finished second in the league for Nissan Net Points with 1147, second only to Jhaniele Fowler, securing her place in the starting seven.
Sterling made seven appearances in the NNP Team of the Year during the season, in rounds two, three, four, five, nine, 10 and 12 and was named Player of the Round in Round Five.
She topped the league for defensive rebounds with 37, second for deflections with 104 – just four behind Geva Mentor – and third for intercepts on 37.
Sterling was named as the reserve defender in the 2019 Team of the Year but took her game to another level in 2020 to claim her place in the starting line-up.
The athletic defender was also rewarded with Club Champion honours at the Thunderbirds, sharing the award with versatile midcourter Maisie Nankivell.
