The Adelaide Thunderbirds are one step away from finalising their 2021 list with Jamaican star Shamera Sterling signing on for her third-consecutive season.
The star defender backed up her breakout 2019 season with another strong year in 2020, finishing second in the SSN for Nissan Net Points with 1147 and being selected in the NNP Team of the Year.
She was also named Player of the Round in the Thunderbirds’ eight-goal win over Collingwood in Round Five.
Sterling topped the league for defensive rebounds with 37, second for deflections with 104 and third for intercepts on 37.
The Jamaican star was also recognised with the club’s top honour, being named dual Club Champion alongside South Australian rising star Maisie Nankivell.
Thunderbirds’ High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said 2020 was another excellent year for Sterling.
“We all know how exciting Shamera is to watch and she’s certainly a crowd favourite,” Bourdon said.
“She is a highly skilled and athletically gifted player, making her an intimidating presence on court.”
“We’ve also been thrilled to see her leadership growth both on and off the court this year and we look forward to seeing her develop further in 2021.”
The Thunderbirds now have just one signing left, with the final announcement to be released in the coming days.
