South Australian superstar Georgie Horjus has earned one of netball’s most prestigious individual accolades, named Player of the Year for the 2024 Suncorp Super Netball season.
At just 22 years of age, the Thunderbird #100 has cemented her place in Australian netball history as the best player in the best netball competition in the world for 2024.
Horjus had a year like no other, securing her second-consecutive SSN premiership with the Adelaide Thunderbirds as well as making her international debut as Australian Diamond #193.
The Kangaroo Island native played a major role in the Thunderbirds’ attack end with her ability to deliver across wing attack and goal attack.
She finished the season with an impressive 230 goal assists, 445 circle feeds, 297 centre pass receives and 93 goals.
Horjus picked up a stellar four Player of the Match Awards along with five fan-voted MVPs.
In the Grand Final, she topped her side’s Nissan Net Points with 81.5 along with 7 goals, 13 goal assist and an incredible 22 feeds whilst playing across WA and GA.
She was voted by her teammates as the club’s 2024 Player’s Player as well as earning the member’s vote, where she was selected for the Member’s Player Award.
Horjus first burst on to the SSN scene in 2020 as a training partner and has been a fan favourite amongst the Pink Army ever since.
Having only spent four years in the league, Horjus has already achieved some of the sport’s highest accolades including two SSN Premierships and a Club Champion Award in 2021.
Adding another feather to her cap, Horjus earned her maiden selection in the SSN Team of the Year at WA, along with defensive teammates Shamera Sterling-Humphrey and Latanya Wilson.
Horjus signed a two-year extension with the Adelaide Thunderbirds, seeing her in the pink dress until at least the end of 2026.
