The Adelaide Thunderbirds have re-signed shooting star and South African international Elmeré van der Berg for another two seasons, extending her contract until 2028.
In her debut season, the 25-year-old took the Super Netball competition by storm, quickly making a name for herself in the world’s best netball league.
She made club history in her first appearance, setting a record for goals scored with 59 in Round 1, and continued to dominate in the shooting circle week on week.
With 810 goals at 91% accuracy, van der Berg was crowned top goal scorer for the league and topped the Net Points with a significant 1375.
The 191cm GS/GA starred on the biggest stage of all, shooting 51 goals at 98% accuracy in the grand final and sharing the fan-voted MVP honours with teammate Kate Heffernan.
Thunderbirds Head Coach Tania Obst said the club was excited to continue working with van der Berg.
“We knew what Elmeré had to offer when we recruited her for 2026 and her growth across the season has been phenomenal,” Obst said.
“She’s an incredible target with great aerial ability, diverse movement and the capacity to shoot from anywhere.
“She’s brought a lot to this group both on and off the court and we look forward to continuing to work together in 2027 and 2028.”
