The Adelaide Thunderbirds have completed their 2023 list with South Australian rising star Tayla Williams signing on for another season.
The 22-year-old from the state’s Mid North impressed in her first contracted season, making her mark in the centre position.
Williams shined in Round 9 as the fan-voted MVP with a team-high 96.5 Nissan Net Points (NNP), 6 gains, 5 intercepts, 24 feeds and 12 goal assists.
She backed it up in Round 11 when she picked up her first Player of the Match honour with 102 NNP, 23 feeds, 13 goal assists and 4 gains – securing her place in the starting seven for the remainder of the season.
Thunderbirds’ High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said the club was pleased to secure Williams for another year.
“Tayla showcased what she is capable of this season, especially in the second half of the year,” Bourdon said.
“She is a very composed decision maker and brings great versatility to our midcourt.
“We look forward to having Tayla back with us again and watching her continue to grow.”
Williams said she was excited to be back with the Thunderbirds again in 2023.
“I love this club and the girls I get to play alongside - I and am super grateful to be able to put on the pink dress again next season,” Williams said.
“This year the group showed glimpses of what we are capable of, and I can’t wait to build on that to be more successful next season.”
