As part of a three-year partnership, Origin will invest in all levels of the game, helping Netball Australia and state-based organisations to deliver a range of industry-leading programs and pathways.
Origin will also become the new naming rights partner of Australia’s national team, which will be known as the Origin Australian Diamonds, and will sponsor seven of the eight Suncorp Super Netball teams, including the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
For Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, the agreement will see Origin partner with the state as a Major Partner over the next three years, providing an invaluable commitment to growing the game for South Australia.
Netball Australia CEO Marne Fechner is delighted to welcome Origin to the Australian netball family.
“We look forward to working closely with Origin on a partnership that will touch so many different facets of the game, from grassroots to the elite,” she said.
“As Australia’s highest participation sport for girls and women, we’re thrilled that a key element of this partnership will focus on supporting netball’s grassroots, ensuring people from all across the nation can be involved in our great sport.”
Origin Energy CEO Frank Calabria also demonstrated excitement in speaking of the new partnership.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Netball Australia to support a much-loved Australian sport and players at all levels across the country – from local clubs right through to the world-leading Australian Diamonds,” said Frank Calabria, CEO, Origin Energy.
“Netball clubs are such an important part of our local communities, and Origin is excited to be working with Netball Australia to support the players, coaches, umpires and volunteers that are the lifeblood of the sport.”
News of the partnership follows last week’s announcement of a new Collective Player Agreement that means the nation’s top netballers will remain the highest-paid female domestic club athletes in Australia.
