The Adelaide Thunderbirds will have a new-look leadership group for their highly anticipated 2023 season.
South Australian Hannah Petty will lead the club as captain for the fourth consecutive season, joined for the first time by international stars Shamera Sterling and Eleanor Cardwell.
The leadership group was voted in by players and coaches following the pre-season Team Girls Cup tournament on the Gold Coast.
Head coach Tania Obst said all three athletes represented the club’s values on and off the court.
“Hannah has led our club for the past four seasons and is highly respected and regarded across our playing group and amongst staff,” Obst said.
“Shamera and Eleanor add invaluable experience at both domestic and international levels to our leadership group.
“Shamera’s leadership has grown year-on-year over her past four seasons with us and she sets a high standard of performance for her teammates.
“Despite only joining us last year, Eleanor has already had a significant impact on our group and brings maturity and knowledge to our relatively young attack line.
“All three are strong leaders both within their respective court areas and across the group, and have been recognised as such by their peers and coaches through this year’s vote.”
With the 2023 pre-season officially complete, the Adelaide Thunderbirds now prepare for Round 1 on Sunday, March 19.
The side’s first home will be at Netball SA Stadium on Saturday, March 25. Purchase tickets HERE.
