Netball SA has launched a new First Nations Scholarship with principal partner Adelaide University from 2026.
Players, coaches, officials, and administrators from across South Australia with an affiliation to Netball SA will all be eligible.
It offers up to $5,000 per year for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students commencing any undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, or pathway program, including online programs at Adelaide University.
Recipients may also be given the opportunity to conduct a work placement with Netball SA or the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
The scholarship was born out of Netball SA and Adelaide University’s shared commitment to a future with greater possibilities for Aboriginal peoples.
It follows Adelaide University’s official sponsorship of the Thunderbirds’ First Nations Round in 2025 and the University’s partnership with Netball SA’s Yakanarna First Nations side.
Adelaide University supported the 2025 Yakanarna team, Netball SA’s First Nations state team, ahead of the national First Nations Tournament.
The University will continue its support of the Yakanarna side in 2026 and will once again be the official sponsor of the Thunderbirds’ First Nations Round on Sunday, May 31.
Applications are open now and will close on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
