Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds are proud to announce its partnership with Netball Tasmania as the two bodies unite to strengthen each state’s netball programs.
The partnership will provide opportunities for umpires, coaches and officials in both states to further their skills, while also filling a gap in the high-performance netball pathway in Tasmania.
Select Tasmanian athletes will have the chance to head to Adelaide and immerse themselves in one of the best high-performance environments in Australia with back-to-back Suncorp Super Netball premiers, the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
They will take part in training and match reviews, meet with the leadership group and coaches, and have access to state-of-the-art facilities.
Netball Tasmania and Netball South Australia will establish an ‘All Star’ game, which will feature the best talent from the South Australian Premier League and the Tasmanian Netball League facing off for the inaugural trophy.
Additionally, Adelaide Thunderbirds players will head to Tasmania to host clinics, attend state trainings and host community forums twice in 2025 and Netball Tasmania umpires will head to Netball South Australia for an umpire exchange.
After success in 2024 with an informal partnership between Netball Tasmania and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, Netball Tasmania CEO, Mitch Coulson, is thrilled to be able to announce the 2025 partnership.
“This partnership will provide such incredible opportunities to our athletes and community,” Mr Coulson said.
“We have already seen how seriously the Thunderbirds take Tasmanian athletes, with the signing of our own Charlotte Walker as a training partner.”
“To be able to provide Tasmanians with the chance to be immersed in arguably the best high-performance environment in the country is an incredible achievement.”
Netball SA CEO Bronwyn Klei said the partnership allowed the two organisations to strengthen development opportunities for local talent in both states.
“This MOU is built on identifying opportunities for our South Australian netball community to grow, while exploring the talent Tasmania has to offer,” Ms Klei said.
“It also increases exposure for the Adelaide Thunderbirds brand in a Tasmanian market that is incredibly passionate about its netball.
“We’re excited for our local athletes, coaches, umpires and administrators to visit Tasmania and vice versa as we join forces to strengthen our netball programs.”
