South Australian midcourter Maisie Nankivell has advised the Adelaide Thunderbirds she will not return in 2024 after five seasons with the club.
Nankivell, who hails from Mundulla in the South East, joined the club in 2019 as an injury replacement player and was rewarded with her first SSN contract in 2020.
Across her five seasons in the pink dress, she played 56 games, won the SSN Rising Star Award and was Co-Club Champion in 2020, and became a premiership player in 2023.
Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said Nankivell had made a significant contribution to the club over the past five years.
“Maisie has been with us since 2019 and has had a real impact on our team and club, especially through her strong training ethic and high fitness standards,” Bourdon said.
“She played a leadership role for us in 2021 and 2022 and we thank her for everything she has contributed to the Thunderbirds both on and off the court.
“We wish Maisie all the best for the future.”
Nankivell said she would always cherish her time with her home club.
“Adelaide has always been home for me, and I know I’m really going to miss being a part of this club,” Nankivell said.
“The memories and friendships I have made are something I can cherish for a lifetime.
“However, I’m excited for a new adventure and can’t wait to get started.”
