Adelaide Thunderbirds 2023 premiership player Matilda Garrett is set to make her Australian Diamonds debut later this month.
After being named in the Diamonds’ 2023-24 Squad earlier this year, the defender has been named to represent her country as they take on South Africa.
The lock down defender shined on court in the 2023 SSN season, recording 16 intercepts, 41 deflections and 10 defensive rebounds.
Garrett also played a significant role in the front court, with 88 centre pass receives and tallying a total of 515.5 Nissan Net Points.
She had stand out performances in rounds five and nine earning her a spot in the Team of the round on both occasions in goal defence.
The three-match series between the Diamonds and the Spar Proteas will mark the first standalone series against South Africa in 18 years with matches to be played in Cairns and Hobart for the first time in Diamond’s history.
The Diamonds will commence their South Africa Series campaign at Cairns Convention Centre on Wednesday 25 October.
The team will then travel to Hobart to complete the final two matches against the Proteas on Sunday 29 October and Tuesday 31 October.
The Diamonds will commence the first leg of the International Test Series tonight, October 12, when they take on the New Zealand Silver Ferns in match one of the Constellation Cup at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena.
Match two will follow in Brisbane on Sunday 15 October before the Constellation Cup team heads to New Zealand to round out the series.
Every match of the Constellation Cup and South Africa Series will be available to watch on Fox Netball plus free and live on Kayo Freebies.
