Kate Shimmin and the Adelaide Thunderbirds will part ways following the close of the 2020 season.
After almost a decade together, the club made the tough decision to not offer the defender a contract for 2021.
Shimmin has spent nine seasons with the club after making her debut in the ANZ Championship in 2011.
She was a member of the 2013 Premiership side and was named Club Champion in 2018.
Adelaide Thunderbirds’ High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said the club wished Shimmin all the best for the future.
“Kate has given so much to this club and has been an incredibly valuable member of the team for many years now,” Bourdon said.
“While we can appreciate this decision will be disappointing for our fans as we know how loved Kate is, this is part of our strategy to rejuvenate the Thunderbirds list in our pursuit for future success.
“We cannot thank Kate enough for her hard work over the years and we know she’ll be incredibly missed by our fanbase and everyone at the club.”
