Adelaide Thunderbirds defender Matilda Garrett has signed a two-year deal with the club, solidifying her place until the end of 2023.
Garrett experienced a breakout year in the Suncorp Super Netball league in 2021, playing all 14 games after making her Thunderbirds debut in Round One.
She came out firing in the opening rounds and shined in Round Three against the Collingwood Magpies.
With 56.5 Nissan Net Points (NNP), 4 intercepts, 5 gains and 12 centre pass receives, she earnt selection in the Team of the Round and was named fan-voted MVP for the Thunderbirds.
Garrett capped off the year with selection in the 2021/22 Australian Development Squad.
Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said the club had been impressed with Garrett’s first year in Adelaide.
“Matilda slotted into our defensive end with ease and has formed strong combinations across the court,” Bourdon said.
“She is highly respected amongst the playing group and staff and is showing herself to be a natural leader on and off the court.”
