Before the 2022 pre-season gets underway, now’s the time to get to know Thunderbirds new recruit Tippah Dwan.
Here’s ten facts you may not know about the talented attacker.
- Tippah was born in Toowoomba in Queensland, about an hour and a half west of Brisbane
- She spent two years living in Adelaide when she was three years old to five years old for her dad's work
- She also lived in Sydney, Singapore and Shanghai!
- Her unique name pays homage to her Irish heritage
- She was first chosen as a training partner for the Queensland Firebirds while she was still completing her Year 12
- Tippah captained the Queensland U19 team that travelled to Adelaide for the Netball Championships in 2018
- She was elevated to the Firebirds list ahead of the 2019 season but suffered a season-ending injury in the pre-season, delaying her debut in the SSN
- She was selected in the 2021/22 Australian Development Squad, alongside new teammates Matilda Garrett, Georgie Horjus and Maisie Nankivell
- She was also chosen in the 2020/21 squad and travelled with the Origin Diamonds side to New Zealand at the start of 2021
- Tippah spent the off-season exploring Tasmania with fellow netballers Lara Dunkley, Rudi Ellis and Gabi Simpson
