Ahead of the Adelaide Thunderbirds season opener against the Collingwood Magpies this Saturday, we spoke to Head Coach Tania Obst about the team's preparation.
Obst said her side put pre-season well and truly behind them last week, switching their focus to the Magpies.
"It has been a solid week of excitement knowing we are leading into round one," Obst said.
"We closed off pre-season properly last week and this week has all been about our preparation for Collingwood.
"We played and watched them in TGC, so we have relatively recent knowledge of their game style."
After trialing a series of combinations across the pre-season, Obst said the side was prepared for the Magpies to explore a number of different line-ups.
"We are ready for a number of different line-ups they may put out against us on Saturday night," Obst said.
"They have a couple of new players in their forward line so it will be interesting how they actually start.
"We have also been fine tuning our game, working on combination play with our various options as well. I’m expecting us to hit the court at 4.30pm ready to stamp our authority on the match."
For Obst, the chance to play in front of a crowd at 100% capacity for the first since 2019 made their Round 1 match extra special.
"Finally, we have an opportunity to play in front of our home crowd with no capacity restrictions," Obst said.
"This is so exciting for our team and we are looking to play great netball and to hear your loud cheers from the very start of the match."
