The Adelaide Thunderbirds are pleased to welcome two additions to its High Performance team ahead of the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season.
Experienced coach Cathy Fellows will return to her 2019 role as Thunderbirds Assistant Coach after a year away from the Adelaide side.
Fellows filled a joint role with Netball Victoria and the Victorian Institute of Sport in 2020 but will revise her previous role with the Thunderbirds for 2021.
Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said the club was thrilled to welcome back one of the country’s most respected netball figures.
“Cathy has more than 20 years of coaching experience and had a profound impact on our club back in 2019 so we can’t wait to have her back,” Bourdon said.
“Her knowledge of the game is immense, and she already has a strong connection with several of the athletes and our head coach, Tania Obst.”
Fellows will travel with the side to Orange, New South Wales this weekend as the Thunderbirds take on the Giants in their first pre-season match of the year.
In addition to Fellows, the Thunderbirds have also announced Kelly Vennus has joined the club in a part-time role as the Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Lead.
“The wellbeing of our athletes and staff is paramount and Kelly has a wealth of experience in this space,” Bourdon said.
“She has worked with SA Premier League 2020 premiership club Matrics Netball Club for several years now, so we know what she’s capable of offering.
“Both Cathy and Kelly bring years of experience in their respective fields and will be huge assets to the Thunderbirds for the 2021 season.”
