South Australian shooter Lucy Austin has advised the Adelaide Thunderbirds she will not return in 2026 after three seasons with the club.
The goal shooter was offered a contract to remain at the Thunderbirds but has advised she will be taking up a contract elsewhere.
An Adelaide local, Austin joined the club in 2023 after making her club and Suncorp Super Netball debut as a training partner in 2022.
In her first official season as a Thunderbird, she was part of the club’s 2023 premiership and picked up the Rookie of the Year Award.
In 2024, she became a dual premiership player for the Thunderbirds and made her third appearance for Australia at the Fast5 Netball World Series.
Across her three seasons, she played 32 games in the pink dress.
Adelaide Thunderbirds General Manager of High Performance Jace Bode thanked Austin for her contribution to the club over the past three years.
“Lucy has been a big part of our club for the past three seasons,” Bode said.
“She’s made significant connections on and off the court and we’re sad to see her go.
“We recognise how challenging this year has been for Lucy, and while we’re disappointed that she won’t be at the club next season, we respect her decision and wish her all the best for 2026 and beyond.”
