All six South Australian sporting codes with women’s teams in national competitions have banded together in support of ‘The Power of Her’ initiative, designed to promote and elevate women’s sport.
The Adelaide Thunderbirds have joined the Adelaide Crows, Adelaide Lightning, Port Adelaide, Adelaide Strikers, and Adelaide United in a commitment to help draw crowds to women’s sporting matches with ticketing and Membership offers at designated games across each code’s respective seasons.
The initiative will see all clubs rally behind each other, encouraging fan bases to venture out to other sports and witness the state’s pinnacle female athletes.
The Adelaide Thunderbirds’ marquee match-up is set for early April 2024 and will be determined, once the Suncorp Super Netball Fixture is released.
For the first time in the club’s history, all Thunderbird’s home games will be taking center stage at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in 2024.
In the meantime, club Members can show up in support of other sporting codes for a discounted price at the following games:

Thunderbirds 2023 premiership captain Hannah Petty is in support of 'The Power of Her' campaign and it’s ability to showcase the power of women’s sport.
“I’m so excited to have joined forces with fellow female athletes through 'The Power of Her' to showcase women’s sport in SA,” Petty said.
“I can’t wait to watch South Australia stand together and support female teams.”
Netball SA CEO Bronwyn Klei said the Adelaide Thunderbirds were proud to be a part of 'The Power of Her' initiative.
“Women’s sport in South Australia is thriving and there is no better time for us to come together to champion its growth,” Ms Klei said.
“As the number one sport for women and girls, netball plays a significant role in the promotion of women’s sport and we’re proud to unite with our fellow major sporting codes.
“Our female athletes in this state are strong and powerful, and the more people who witness their ability live in action, the more people are rallying behind our great games.
“I hope this initiative will encourage our SA community to get to as many games as possible. Attending matches is an investment in our athletes and the key to truly growing women’s sport.”
The Initiative was launched by the South Australian government, with the Minister for Sport and Minister for women Katrine Hildyard championing the initiative.
“The Power of Her Women in Leadership symposium was powerful; it saw more than 1,000 people come together to advance gender equality and open doors for future generations,” Minister Hildyard said.
“Attendees left determined to advance enduring change together that makes a difference in their lives of girls and women.
“The Power of Her aimed to create a lasting legacy through harnessing the momentum and energy from FIFIA Women’s World Cup. I am thrilled that this group is using that energy to collectively bring more supporters to women’s sport.”
