The Adelaide Thunderbirds will begin their 2019 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) campaign in front of a home crowd in late-April against West Coast Fever.
The 14-round season will see the Adelaide Thunderbirds play seven matches in Adelaide and play each club twice; once at home and once away.
The Adelaide Entertainment Centre will again host another blockbuster game with the Adelaide Thunderbirds confirming it will return to the venue for Round 13 against GIANTS Netball.
Adelaide Thunderbirds General Manager Melody Cooper said the club has worked to secure an exciting fixture.
“Five of our home games are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, the pinnacle time for our members and supporters. The Sunday afternoon timeslot means we aren’t competing with Saturday sport and events, allowing for the growth of our fan base and opening up the game to people who haven’t seen our athletes play before,” she said.
“The Adelaide Entertainment Centre is a power game for our club and a major coup for the club, fans and all South Australians. It is a premiere event, that offers a really exciting sporting experience, and one to remember. Up to 8,000 people can watch the game and cheer on their South Australian team, and I know it’s a venue that the players love.
Adelaide Thunderbirds Head Coach Tania Obst said the club’s passionate fans will see some of South Australia’s best netball talents and high calibre international players. “This year our fans will see a tough and competitive team, we’re all excited to start the season and really showcase what we’re going to deliver on court.”
“Pre-season is already underway, and by the time we play our first game, the players will be raring to go and play in front of a home crowd to take on West Coast Fever.”
