There were many special moments throughout the season, so we caught up with Adelaide Thunderbirds Head Coach Tania Obst to find out what her top three highlights were.
3rd Place: Round 9 draw with the Premiers
“Our game at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre where we came away with a draw against the now reigning premiers the NSW Swifts. I feel that in this match we showed that we were able to hold our own against the ladder-topping team and displayed how our brand of netball can compete with a top team. While we would have loved to get that win I still felt that we played some good netball.”
2nd Place: Round 1 snapping the losing streak
“Obviously I have to include Round 1 in my top highlights where we won against West Coast Fever and snapped our losing streak. Seeing the emotion throughout the stadium in both the players and fans when we got that first win was very special. It was also very nice to start the season off with a win.”
1st Place: Round 12 consistent gameplay
“Our Round 12 match against the Firebirds was the biggest highlight for me. I felt that we put out our most consistent performance on the court. When the game was in the balance, we were able to put some systems in place to push ahead and secure the win. We also were able to do that on an away court, and this was the first time in Suncorp Super Netball history that the Thunderbirds won away from home.”
