The Adelaide Thunderbirds will take to the court against the Melbourne Vixens on Friday 17 April 2020 at Berri Toyota Arena (7:00pm ACST). Athletes will also host junior clinics for the Berri Netball Club on Saturday 18 April 2020.
Netball SA CEO, Bronwyn Klei said the Adelaide Thunderbirds are excited to bring the Suncorp Super Netball athletes to Berri, in a partnership with the Berri Barmera Council and Berri Netball Club.
“Netball SA are working closely with the Council to recognise the importance of and grow awareness of netball in this region. Through the Berri Netball Club, we will be offering development opportunities for local netballers with clinics delivered by Adelaide Thunderbirds and Melbourne Vixens athletes,” said Bronwyn.
“We look forward to displaying the talent of the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Suncorp Super Netball to the broader Berri community, and we know that country netballers are some of the most passionate fans so the Berri region will welcome both teams with open arms.”
“Netball SA would like to thank Berri Barmera Council and Berri Netball Club for their support and allowing us to bring some of the best players in the world to the region to showcase the sport.”
Berri Barmera Council Mayor, Peter Hunt said that the Riverland is home to thousands of netball players and fans, who will relish the opportunity to see some of the world’s best netballers play on their doorstep.
“Access to Australia’s premier netball competition can be challenging for our regional netballers so it is with great excitement we announce that our community will be able to watch the Adelaide Thunderbirds take on the Melbourne Vixens in a preseason match right here at the Berri Toyota Arena,” said Peter.
“Aside from giving Riverland locals access to an elite sporting match, the athletes will offer our netball enthusiasts the chance to get up close to their sporting idols when they conduct clinics on Saturday 18 April.”
Berri Netball Club Committee Member Chrissy Eleftheriadis said, “Sport plays a vital role in country life and we know that our club and the sport loving public in the Riverland will immensely enjoy seeing the athleticism and skills of the wonderful athletes live in Berri.
“Thanks must go to Netball SA for working with the Berri Barmera Council to bring this preseason match to us. The planned clinics for our club will offer players and coaches outstanding development opportunities and a chance to learn from some highly experienced athletes.”
This partnership will deliver an opportunity for the Riverland community to see some of the best netballers in the world compete in Berri.
Ticketing information for the game and clinic registration details will be released in the new year.
