South Australian midcourter Sophie Casey earned her first official Super Netball contract for 2026 on the back of taking out the league's Rookie of the Year award as the club’s 11th player in 2025.
The Adelaide local proved she belonged in the world’s best netball competition, featuring in all 16 matches in 2026 and having an undeniable impact in wing defence and centre.
She earned her first start in Round 13 against the NSW Swifts before celebrating her first premiership with her home club.
Casey is a Netball SA Pathway talent, having represented South Australia on the national stage and becoming a premiership player for Matrics Netball Club in The Hospital Research Foundation Group Premier League.
She captained SA’s 19U side who won gold in 2023, in the same year she earned her first selection as an Adelaide Thunderbirds training partner.
In 2025, she led the Australian 21U team to a gold medal at the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar.
