Sanmarie Visser

South African versatile defender Sanmarie Visser will be back in pink in 2027, joining the Thunderbirds’ list as a familiar face at the club.

Visser became Thunderbird #112 in Round 4 of 2025 following Shamera Sterling-Humphrey’s pregnancy announcement.

On debut, the 22-year-old played almost the entire 60 minutes, picking up 3 gains and 5 deflections.

Following Sterling-Humphrey’s return from maternity leave, Visser joined the Leeds Rhinos in the UK Superleague.

She made 12 appearances for the Rhinos and recorded 50 gains, 49 deflections and 18 intercepts. Post-season, Visser and was named Players’ Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year.

Visser most recently represented South Africa at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
