Adelaide Thunderbirds Beth Cobden and Shamera Sterling have joined their teammates Cody Lange and Hannah Petty as NetSetGO Ambassadors for 2019.

Suncorp NetSetGO is a fun, safe, social and active program for girls and boys aged 5 to 10. It gives kids of all abilities a positive introduction to netball and teaches them the basic skills of the sport.

Beth said NetSetGO is a great program to ease kids into netball.

“It allows them to learn a variety of skills before they’re introduced to playing a whole game,” the Commonwealth Games gold medallist said.

Beth said her earliest memory of playing netball was for Fairfax and Parkside Netball Club in England.

“We would play in tournaments, and I was in the yellow team and we won,” she said.

Beth and Shamera share a love for working with budding netballers.

“They’re cute and they make you laugh! It’s also nice to see their development throughout the netball sessions,” Beth said.

Shamera, who is studying to be a primary school teacher, said she hopes her studies will help her to be a great coach to budding netballers.

“I love working with kids and it’s always fun to be around kids,” she said.

Shamera, who topped the Commonwealth Game’s intercept count, provided advice to all young netballers.

“Just enjoy netball as a young kid. When you get bigger, that’s when it’s time to take it more seriously.”

All four NetSetGO Ambassador look forward to attending NetSetGO club training sessions, presentation events, association carnivals and clinics over the coming months.
