The Adelaide Thunderbirds take on the fifth-placed Sunshine Coast Lightning on Sunday at Priceline Stadium.
The Thunderbirds go into the game with the same match day 10 that has lined up for the previous two rounds.
Vice Captain Chelsea Pitman, who is set to play her 100th National League game, said the team is focussed on a strong start to the match.
“Starting well will put us in a good stead to play 60 minutes of strong and consistent netball,” she said.
With five wins, five losses and one draw to their name, Lightning – the reigning champions – have been inconsistent at times throughout the season.
“They have had some yoyo performances throughout the year, but when they are at their best they are a world class team,” Pitman said.
When the two teams met in Round 5, Lightning were victors by nine goals however the Adelaide Thunderbirds held the lead at times throughout the game.
“Last time we came up against the Lightning I think we let the win slip away, so we’re going into this game knowing that we can match it with them,” Pitman said.
“For us we need to focus on our game, we need to focus on our processes, beating our opponent and I know that if we string together a great 60-minute performance that we will be walking away with bonus points and a win.”
In Round 11, Pitman was moved into goal attack in the last quarter and said if she’s needed in the goal circle again this weekend, she’s up for the role.
“I’m happy playing any role for the team. I am confident with my movement in goal attack and I feel quite natural in the position.”
On the eve of her 100th National League game, she said her favourite memory of playing for the pink is this season’s pre-season camp.
“It was the first time the 2018 playing group had come together. The vibe within the group and how we all got along was really exciting. I hadn’t been at a camp like that before when you instantly have such strong connections and I think that’s what has helped keep us united this year.”
