The Adelaide Thunderbirds return home to Priceline Stadium this Sunday (June 17) to take on the Queensland Firebirds.
The T-Birds have announced one change to their match day 10, with in-form goal attack Charlee Hodges returning after concussion ruled her out of Round 6.
Sasha Glasgow will play for the Southern Force this weekend and partner Cat Tuivaiti in the shooting circle. It marks Tuivaiti’s first game since tearing her ACL in July 2017.
Adelaide Thunderbirds Head Coach Dan Ryan said the team is focussed on re-creating the form they produced against the NSW Swifts in Round 6.
“We had mixed emotions around the bye timing. We were obviously really excited about the form and momentum we were gathering, as well as seeing the connections really start to form and our identity start to rise as a group,” he said.
“We are focussed on picking up where we left off against the NSW Swifts and pushing forward really hard.”
Ryan said the team’s hard work and persistence has paid off.
“I think the beauty now is that we can sense a win and believe it’s possible,” he said.
“With such a new team it was always going to take time. I think our persistence has paid off over the last month particularly, but it’s so important that we step it up again against the Firebirds and put in even more hard work.”
The contest on the court is set to be a thriller with key match-ups including Firebird’s Australian Diamonds goal keeper Laura Geitz lining up against T-Birds impressive up-and-coming shooter Shimona Nelson, and experienced mid-courters in Chelsea Pitman and Gabi Simpson going head-to-head.
