Meet Adelaide Thunderbirds member… Lauren Johnson

Since Lauren Johnson attended the 2010 ANZ Championship Grand Final when the Adelaide Thunderbirds defeated Waikato Magic she’s been a T-Birds fan.

The 2018 season marks the 8th year Lauren, her sister Adele and mum Raelene have been members of the club. Over these years, Lauren and her family have attended the 2013 Grand Final, Fan Day each year and in 2016 she presented the Members’ Award to Kristina Brice.

Ahead of the 2018 season, she’s still excited as ever.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing Kate Shimmin back playing in the pink dress, she has such a great energy on the court. I also can’t wait to see Cat Tuivaiti and Leana de Bruin,” Lauren said.

“The atmosphere of the games is great and seeing the girls play is awesome, they’re such brilliant athletes.”

But the players aren’t the only ones Lauren is a fan of….

“My sister and I have Dan Fan Badges! When Dan was an assistant coach with Jane Woodlands-Thompson we had them made up.”

Lauren said she’s been keeping up-to-date with what the new playing group has been up to over the pre-season.

“From the players’ Instagram it looks like they’ve got to know each other really well and they’re spending time together away from training.”
