Make the T-Birds’ favourite peanut butter energy balls

Before each game Adelaide Thunderbirds dietician Lauren Stribley will be busy in the kitchen making the players’ favourite ‘peanut butter energy balls’. They’re loaded with protein, fibre and healthy fats to keep netballers full and energised.

Here’s the recipe and what’s even better – it only takes 10 minutes to make this perfect pre-game snack.

Time: 10 minutes

 

Makes: 10 balls 

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats
  • ½ cup smooth peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ¼ cup almonds, chopped finely
  • ¼ cup walnuts, chopped finely
  • 2 TBS chia seeds
  • ½ block 85% dark chocolate, chopped finely

 

Method

  1. Melt peanut butter in microwave for about one minute. Then add honey and allow to cool.
  2. Combine oats, almonds, walnuts, chia seeds and chocolate in a mixing bowl, then pour into peanut butter and honey mixture, and stir.
  3. Form 10 even (golf ball sized) balls and store in fridge.
