The Adelaide Thunderbirds are looking to step up again this week, naming an unchanged side to take on the Queensland Firebirds this Saturday night in Brisbane.
The Thunderbirds came agonisingly close to their second win of the season last week, falling just two goals short of the second-placed GIANTS Netball in a nail biter at Titanium Stadium. Head coach Dan Ryan has challenged his players to continue to find improvements this week.
“We had our best team performance against the Giants and the for us, it is about reproducing that quality and competitiveness again to make sure we consolidate on those great gains,” said Ryan.
“This game against the Firebirds is another huge match for us. We’ve prepared well and now need to put every ounce of effort into taking another step forward.”
Last time these sides played in round six, a poor start cost the Thunderbirds but Ryan says his side has been working hard to ensure they will come out firing this time.
“The last time we met the Firebirds, we let a huge opportunity slip and we are very keen to get it right on Saturday night. They will throw everything at us but we are ready to stand up and do whatever it takes to get the job done,” said Ryan.
Emily Burgess (Matrics), Charlee Hodges (Contax) and Jane Cook (Metro Jets) have be released to their Premier League sides for the opening round of the Nine News Netball Cup at Priceline Stadium tonight.
